Martial Arts

High Kick There are numerous reasons for studying Martial Arts. Self Discipline, Mental Strength, Better Health,Spirituality, Harnessing Energy(Chi)(Qi). These are just a few reasons. You probably have your own. Whatever the reason that made you think about studying maybe your initial reason, but understand that your primary reason should be because you enjoy it. Let your enjoyment be the root of your training and your accomplishments its blossoming. The Martial Arts, when practiced properly, is a path to knowing who we are. It teaches us to face the person we are. When taken to deeper levels and not just physical it can change your life and the way you see things.

If you plan on pursuing the Martial Arts you should make sure you do not have any diseases that will make your training difficult. Something recommended to every martial artist is picking up a copy of Bruce Lee's Tao Of Jeet Kune Do. JKD may have been the name of his style but it serves as a platform for martial arts as a whole and will make you look at whatever style you choose to study differently.

No Nonsense Self Defense Secrets

Will To Learn

The Will To Learn Do you have what it takes to be a Master of the Arts? The Martial Artist through his own virtue or that of a teacher learns that Life is the Ultimate Teacher. You must have the will to do so, and if you choose to take the master less path you will need great patience and self-discipline. Not everyone is made for this path, this sort of path chooses you. You will acquire self-discipline as you study and you will learn to study nature and all things under the sun. Studying the rhythm and weaknesses of anything will help you overcome obstacles. Stumbling blocks thus become stepping stones towards knowing out own weaknesses.

Many people claim to have no rhythm but what they fail to see is the movement of life is nothing but constantly changing rhythm. To say you have to rhythm is to say your one of the walking dead. Furthermore we may lack a certain degree of rhythm in one art, technique, or form but rest assured you have a natural rhythm in something similar but different. What I mean by this is that you may have a hard time doing say Shotokan, but you find a great ease with Tai Chi. The rhythm is the same but different within these two arts, they are similar but different. In the book Tao Of Jeet Kune Do, there is a poem by a Taoist priest where one line stands out specifically, "One and the same breeze passes Over the pines on the mountain And the oak trees in the valley; And why do they give different notes?" Pine Trees and Oak Trees are different, yet the breeze that moves them is the same. The breeze makes the tree dance and gives it life. They differ only in form and appearance. You must overcome your mind and enter the realm where you no longer doubt yourself and make excuses. You must have the will to learn, for if there is no will then there is no way. In order to be a successful Martial Artist, you will need to summon the power to stay focused. Once on the path you must stay focused on the path, one step off the path could take a lifetime to get back on track. You must believe in yourself and have the strength not to turn back.

What Martial Art Should I Study?

What Martial Art Should I Study? What kind of art should I study? This question takes sometime to answer. It is probably the biggest single question to ask. There are many different types of martial arts. It depends on the needs of the artist. Some people think that some arts are ineffective or weak, but they are NOT. They are all just different. BEWARE of those highly skilled in physical technique and claim they can show you how to do someone in. People that profess this are really teaching you to do yourself in. It's looking at the square and missing the cube. Who you learn from is just as important as what style.

In the heat of combat is your mind able to move from form to form seamlessly? Is your mind chattering away at where to hit next or where your right foot should be? Do you have the freedom to let your art express itself through you? If you watch a guitar player improvise it is based off of things he knows, but in reality he has no idea where the music is going. The art will express through you if your mind will allow it. You can learn all the deadliest moves known to man, but if you don't have the Mind to see combat in it's simplicity and directness. Ultimately all people throw a punch differently. No matter how much you imitate and reproduce the punches from these different styles it will still be your unique punch. Why? The answer is because your unique, and it would be a shame to think otherwise.
