Our Ultimate Reality

Finding Time To Meditate

Our Ultimate Reality The key to meditating for many of us, is finding a way to incorporate it into our already hectic schedules. If you take one step towards meditation it will take two steps towards you. You can try early in the morning by waking up 5 minutes earlier and go from there. Eventually over time you will see that 5 minutes will become 10 minutes, and then 15 minutes and so on.Some prefer nightly meditation, where they can use it as a means to empty their mind and sleep peacefully.

I suggest starting with the morning and then incorporating the evening meditations as time allows. However the main thing you you need to realize is that your life is a meditation, you simply need to tap into that energy, and focus on it for moments at a time. There are many different types of meditation that allows you ways to easily incorporate these practices into whatever you do in your day. The key is for you to find the meditation practice that works for you.

Meditation For The Person On The Go

Our Ultimate Reality Consider walking meditation, this is a meditation in action. In this type of meditation instead of focusing on an object, word, phrase or vision, your focus in on the movement of you body while you walk. You need to become mindful of your walk and the experience of walking. Obviously in this meditation you will not be closing your eyes as you would with other forms of meditation. Zazen is another form of meditation where you don't close your eyes. It is the form of meditation for practitioners of Zen.

This type of meditation is often found to be easier for many people because people feel as though they are doing something, and you can easily focus on the movement of your body, you are more aware of you body. This can actually make walking meditation a more profound experience for you then sitting and meditating. Forms such as this makes the transition to meditative living possible. When your sweeping the floor you do it with all your Mind-Body-Spirit. You do everything as a form of meditation, be it guitar playing, exercising, cooking, internet marketing, whatever it is that you do.

There is also driving meditation. As with the walking meditation where your focus in on your body and motion when walking, with driving you and your car are one. Making yourself fully aware of yourself with the car and how it operates will allow you to use the car correctly and you will find that there is less stress and aggravation while driving. How many times have you gotten in your car and it has been like you are driving on autopilot, your mind is everywhere except on the car and the drive. Even worse people get "road rage" and they become so attached to their angry thoughts that they crash or do something that harms another person. With the amount of time we spend in our cars, finding  use of that time that can actually make our lives better. Driving should be peaceful and you should have absolute awareness just like with something you really enjoy doing. I play guitar, drive, walk, meditate, skateboard amongst many other things, but I treat them all as one. They are all forms of meditation because in the end Life is Meditation.

Breath Control

Our Ultimate Reality A huge part of meditation is proper breathing, and focusing on deep breathing exercises. These deep breathing exercises you can do sitting in traffic in your car, standing in line at the grocery store or waiting for you dinner when out at a restaurant. You do not need hours of time, just ten minutes twice a day, is enough to change your life for the better. Ten minutes can be your shower in the morning, that extra ten minutes you have in between hitting the snooze button is enough time for meditation. If you can commit, you will see and feel the difference in no time. If you ever find yourself  "out" of the moment you can return to your breathing.

Pay attention to your breathing especially during emotional times. Often are breathing becomes rapid and harsh. If we would just take a moment to return to the present, via our breathing we would start to see that controlling your breathing actually controls a lot more than we realize. Try counting your breaths. Breathing in counts as one breath, breathing out counts as the second. Go to ten and then back to one. Once you have mastered  count breathing in and breathing otu as one breath and once again go to ten and back. If you reach this stage, which can take a long time, the goal would be to give up the counting and only focus on your breathing.
